Copper (hoppered "Spinel"-twins)
Description
Copper (hoppered "Spinel"-twins)Here we have a beautiful, elongated "Spinel" twinned Copper specimen from the 2019 discovery at the Rocklands Mine in Australia. The piece is complete on all sides with no damage anywhere, making it a "floater" with no point of attachment. The dichotomy between the elegantly well formed octahedral crystals faces and the deep, repeating skeletal or "hoppered" lines is dramatic and eye catching. The piece reminds me of a DNA helix with its twisting,
and the crystal has maintained that classic “Roman sword” appearance
even if they are micro crystallized
The main crystals are damage free
Here we have a very dramatic
During the latter half of 2010
The main crystal is doubly terminated with a beautiful internal color and near WATER CLEAR transparency
crystal with a beautiful termination with minor golden Siderite and matrix
The accompanying Vivianite on the side of the main crystal is contacted
A great representation of these unique classic specimens from New Mexico
This thumbnail specimen is a euhedral
Specimen # WWMIX101814
One of the very few pieces from this uncommon find in Cunningham Gulch
