TP95-13: NPF Cooling Tower Fill: Its Development & Demonstration
Description
TP95-13: NPF Cooling Tower Fill: Its Development & DemonstrationThe use of plastic packings in natural draught cooling towers significantly improves their performance. A reduction in the recool temperature of the water sent back to the condenser of 2 to 3K can be achieved compared to typical wooden splash packings. However, an unfortunate side effect is that plastic packings suffer from the build up of surface fouling in service. This has been found to have the effect of reducing the performance of the packing.
Results from extensive field trials have demonstrated excellent correlations with standard monitoring methods and treatment levels
and various methods used to extend their service life
During the past two years
entrainment of fish
Field trials
whether soh or hard
which are then close coupled to a hydraulic pump
corrosion of embedded reinforcement
the Cooling Tower Institute believes that a well-organized testing program on the part of an individual user company on its operating towers can lead to their optimal utilization with respect to other pieces of equipment in the plant
because supervision and labor are frequently the largest variable cost for a contractor
or soft industrial cooling water systems
lubricating oils in steel mills and other oil-based process leaks all contribute to the above-mentioned problems
