1916 Collins StreetA photograph of Collins Street looking west from the Elizabeth Street corner around 1916. At this time Melbourne looked so civilised, so prosperous. The architecture of the major buildings was stunning, and the city's wide streets allowed the facades to be viewed in all their glory. The large building was originally built as Melbourne's Fish Market in 1865
The Princes Bridge in the photo was to last another 20 years before it was replaced by today's Princes Bridge (opened 1888)
